The Accounting Technician is responsible for cash management, financial statement preparation, general ledger maintenance/control, and audit activities. The position involves extensive interfacing with project and management personnel and external customers.
Responsibilities:
Prepare and analyse short-term cash flow requirements;
Assist with quarterly forecasting, monthly financial statements and reports, internal and year end audits, maintaining and controlling the general ledger structure, and the preparation of the yearly business plan;
Assist in maintaining the integrity of accounting principles, internal controls and procedures;
Assist in the preparation of the monthly foreign exchange analysis;
Review account payable & accounts receivable transactions, and assist with accounts receivable inquiries;
Prepare and review journal entries; and,
Assist with the Scientific Research and Experimental Development claim.
Applicants will have completed an accounting post-secondary program and/or have related work experience. Additionally, they must be fluent with excel and experience with pivot tables would be advantageous. The position requires strong analytical abilities, good communication skills, positive attitude, and the ability to make suggestions and decisions.
The ability to obtain a Secret Security Clearance and meet the eligibility requirements outlined in the Canadian Controlled Goods Program is mandatory.
