ICDC researches and demonstrates profitable agronomic practices for irrigated crops.
The Agronomy Research Assistant works closely with the Research Director to manage and maintain irrigation research trial plots. The research trials are used in the evaluation of varieties of all conventional field crops as well as potential crops with commercial irrigation potential. Additionally, the Agronomy Research Assistant assists with a wide and diverse agronomic research program. The successful applicant will be highly ambitious, innovative, have a desire for continuous learning and is able to quickly adapt to a rapidly evolving and highly motivated research and team environment.
Job Responsibilities:
- Operate and maintain field plot equipment.
- Assist with field research activities, including seed procurement, site preparation, planting, plot maintenance and in-crop spraying, harvesting and processing of seed collected.
- Assist with the collection, entry and analysis of agronomic data.
- Assist in supervising seasonal staff.
- Assist with organizing and providing tours of field sites and extension activities.
- Ensure compliance with all corporate and government mandates related to conducting field trials and adherence to safety program.
