Prairie Spirit Connections is offering a culturally based reunification program to families in partnership with the Ministry of Social Services. We are seeking a Program Support Worker to facilitate a cultural curriculum, one on one and group counselling, and support families in their homes.
Knowledge and Abilities
Knowledge and understanding of the medicine wheel concepts
Have a broad knowledge of local community resources
Understanding of family systems, grief and loss, addictions, and violence issues
Ability to work effectively in a team environment
Ability to record client information and enter in data base with daily, weekly and monthly reports.
Support cultural programming, ceremonies, traditional teachings and practices
Competencies and Skills
Work experience in a client oriented position with First Nation and Metis families.
Previous experience in leading/facilitating groups using a strength based approach
Understanding personal and professional boundaries
Facilitate case conferences between the Ministry of Social Services, families and community resources
Strong time management computer and organizational skills
Good verbal, written and presentation skills
Security and Safety
Criminal record
Child abuse registry
Drivers licence
Must sign an oath of confidentiality
Education and Training
Education and/or training in a Human Services Field
Life Skills Coaches/Facilitators Certification
Preference will be given to those candidates who have a good understanding of the needs of First Nation and Metis families who have a combination of education and experience in the above disciplines and are willing to work flexible hours.
