The Moose Jaw Times Herald, part of TC Media, is a reliable daily source of news and information for the Moose Jaw region that prides itself in providing readers with a well-rounded local news package, with an emphasis on the people, issues, and events that has an effect on the community.

We currently have an opening for a Full-Time Managing Editor. Your overall objective will be to produce content on the issues and stories that resonate with the community. Reporting to the Director of Content, you will be leading an editorial team responsible for meeting deadlines and exceeding the expectations of online and print readers.

Duties include:

Taking a leadership role in the setting of daily strategic and long range news direction
Participating in a leadership role in planning and executing special projects
Designing and presenting a clear vision of the editorial content of the website and newspaper, based on Digital First Principles
Taking ownership of all editorial content in print and digital formats
Hiring, supervising, and managing the newsroom staff; including creating daily schedules, assigning stories, and overseeing vacation schedules
Managing news department budgets
Interacting effectively with readers and staff
Being a highly visible face of the paper in the community

Qualifications:

Completed diploma or degree from an accredited journalism program
Wide-ranging editorial management experience at a newspaper in a competitive market
Demonstrated  expertise in news judgment and management
Proficiency in web and print editorial software and technical systems
Strong writing and editing skills

Extensive experience in the journalism field
Experience setting and managing department budgets
Strong working knowledge of media website back ends
Strong knowledge and experience with various social media platforms
