Based in either the Wainwright or Lloydminster AB office, the estimator actively participates in the collective preparation of comprehensive, accurate, and consistent industrial cost estimates/proposals for multiple, concurrent projects valuing up to $5M each. Interprets construction bid documents and technical drawings to identify engineering specifications, evaluate and estimate materials, manpower, schedule and budget. Utilizes formal training and experience to provide technical expertise adhering to a clearly defined estimating process and ensures compliance to URS Infrastructures pre-determined process/procedures.
Reviews and analyzes relevant documentation to determine work scope and requirements for preparation of estimates/proposals.
Prepare and review PTN, clarifications, checklists and document lists for estimate submission.
Perform material take-offs and systematically estimate costs involving: Fabrication, Manufacturing, pressure vessel/piping systems and construction projects.
Assist with populating the necessary estimates/proposals documents such as clarifications lists, tender forms, work break down structures, rates schedules, etc.
Utilize estimating software and enter accumulated statistical data and costs.
Setup job and specs as well as enter take-off data.
Collaborate with other functions to enhance project success on an as needed basis required by the Estimator Lead.
Ensures all documentation is relevant and available to support the development of estimates/proposals.
Collectively maintains the estimate/proposal files as back-up for the estimate/proposal including accurate information on qualifications, labour rates, construction equipment rates, material pricing from suppliers,
Post, review and print off any required information from URS's intranet which pertains to current tasks, responsibilities and projects.
