As part of the HR team, participate in the employee and labour relations meetings;
Support the performance management process;
Oversee Job Evaluation programs to ensure evaluations are up-to-date and accurate and participates as a company representative on the Job
Support front line supervisors to successfully deliver HR policies and practices including: recognition, motivation, discipline, and termination;
Support employee development through coaching, feedback and performance management and coach managers accordingly.
Recruitment, selection and retention of staff and hourly positions including postings, advertising, resume collection, prescreens, short- listing, interviewing, testing and assessments and final selection with management;
Ensuring reference checks are conducted and ensuring initial onboarding is completed to high standards, including benefits sign-up and orientation;
Ensure that the job posting/training programs meet the needs of the division. Determines successful candidates through seniority and competency provisions, conducts testing and coordinates apprentice schooling/rates and related documentation;
Maintain responsibility for a variety of other HR services such as: HR Reports and statistics, training sessions and other events;
Monitor labour market trends in local hiring and raise issues and solutions as appropriate.
Provide expertise and guidance on hourly employee relations issues;
Coordinate the management of employee performance documentation;
Manage exit interview process;
Support recognition programs in safety, attendance, and service.
In conjunction with operations, assist with the management of WI and WCB claims;
Provide advice and counsel on hourly benefit programs including short term and long disability claims and, in cooperation with operations management, administer the efficient claims/disability management including Return to Work initiatives for WCB and WI claims.
