Description

Summary:    The Recreation Technician is supervised by the Wellness/Justice Coordinator, with overall accountability to the Director of Operations.  This position is responsible for coordinating, planning and supervising of community-based recreation and athletic activities within specific target groups within the community, in a drug and alcohol free environment.  He/She must ensure the interior and exterior of the building is maintained in accordance public, health and safety standards.

QUALIFICATIONS:
A)    Possess certificate/diploma in recreation technology and/or a combination of post-school training and relevant work experience.
B)    Possess a valid drivers license and own a reliable vehicle.
C)    Must possess strong organizational skills including program/activity planning, budgeting and people/conflict management skills.
D)    Be in good physical condition and display a positive role model image in the community.
E)    Have the ability to communicate effectively with all segments of a First-Nation and non-First Nation population.
F)    Possess the ability to follow direction and work with minimum supervision.
G)    Be punctual, dependable and reliable and able to work flexible hours to accommodate program activities.
H)    Have the ability to manage confidential information.
I)    Possess valid CPR/First Aide certifications and maintain certification throughout term of employment.
J)    Meet the insurability requirements to operate a band owned vehicle.
K)    Submission of drivers abstract with application.
L)    Submission of a criminal records check, with vulnerability sector, with application.
M)    Submission of a pre-employment drug screening with application.
N)    Submission of three (3) references with application.
