Description

Meadow Lake Mechanical Pulp Inc. is seeking to fill the following position:

TECHNICAL MANAGER
Reporting to the Mill Manager, the incumbent will provide strategic direction and leadership to the Technical department, managing department staff in a collaborative, team environment while ensuring safety standards and full compliance to all regulatory requirements are being met.

Responsibilities:
- Instrumental in grade development.
- Direct all aspects of customer service including customer quality specifications, customer information, complaint response, etc.
- Direct efforts of engineers and technologists in areas of operating cost,  quality control, and process optimization.
- Maintain overall ISO 9001 quality and ISO 14001 programs.
- Establish and maintain a reporting network with all appropriate regulatory agencies. Meet all regulatory requirements for testing and reporting information as defined in permits and legislation.
- Negotiate with regulatory agencies, as necessary, to obtain necessary permits required to operate the mill.
- Respond to environmental complaints from the community.
- Establish and maintain appropriate mill-wide environmental programs.
- Process engineering and assistance in the development and implementation of operational strategy and/or capital improvements.
- Monitoring, control and improvement recommendations on chemical, energy, and other process additives.

Ideal Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree in Chemical Engineering or relevant disciplines
- Minimum 10+ years experience in a busy, manufacturing environment with minimum 2+ years in the management level
- Kraft pulp, TMP, and/or BCTMP knowledge and experience
- Knowledge of product cycle, material acquisition and sales
- Excellent project management and budget management skills
- Excellent problem solver to maintain/increase productivity levels to meet agreed targets
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
