Description

The City of Meadow Lake has an immediate need for a Civil Engineering Technologist with a strong interest in municipal projects and a desire to work in a management position. Reporting to the City Manager the Civil Engineering Technologist is responsible for contributing to the overall analysis, maintenance and planning of infrastructure and capital projects. This will be achieved through the preparation and maintenance of infrastructure planning documents and maintaining a functional multi-year capital plan. The Civil Engineering Technologist is responsible for the coordination and facilitation of inquiries and referrals for infrastructure development, including development application referrals, engineering design reviews, and monitoring/inspecting municipal infrastructure projects. This position is also responsible for project management and coordination of capital infrastructure and extending support to other service areas. The responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:
    coordinating all major civil projects for the city
    reviewing and managing budgets
    implementing asset management

The ideal candidate will have a diploma in Civil Engineering technology or related field, have 5 or more years of municipal experience, a sound working knowledge of municipal public works, and be able to lead with limited direction. Experience with survey equipment and AutoCAD is an asset.  The successful candidate shall have excellent verbal and written skills to communicate with residents. The successful candidate will be capable of working independently, and be familiar with, budgeting and planning.
