Description

The Executive Assistant to the Saskatchewan Polytechnic Board of Directors is accountable to the President and Chief Executive Officer for providing administrative and research support to the Board of Directors. This position is responsible for managing the business and affairs of the board office and to assist the board in fulfilling its responsibilities under The Saskatchewan Polytechnic Act.

This position is one of five reporting to the President & CEO and has no reporting subordinates.

This position has dual responsibility to the Board Chair (and up to a 20-member Board of Directors) and President and Chief Executive Officer. The Executive Assistant is a highly visible position in both the internal and external Saskatchewan Polytechnic communities and serves as the primary point of contact and, often, serves as the first representative of the Saskatchewan Polytechnic Board of Directors.

The incumbent must possess strong administrative, management and communication skills in order to manage affairs of the board office. Although this position works within the team of the presidents office, this role is very self directed. This requires the incumbent to be self managed and operate in an autonomous structure as direction can be delayed when needed.

The Executive Assistant prepares agenda material and participates in subcommittee and board meetings, and assists the board in ensuring their annual goals are met. A broad and comprehensive knowledge of the institute must be maintained, along with an understanding of government protocol.
