Description

DUTIES:
Reporting to the Parks Foreman, duties include:
1) Assist in directing, co-ordinating, and supervising manpower and resources required for the construction, operation and maintenance of all city parks , boulevards, cemetery, sports fields sports, legion ball park and related works, to industry accepted standards.
2) Takes an active role in monitoring and developing operating procedures and programs that provide for efficient operation and maintenance of all parks aspects.
3) Takes an active role in hiring, training, appraising, and releasing, as necessary, all assigned staff in accordance with approved personnel policies.
4) Assist with creating and monitoring annual operating budgets, in conjunction with the Parks Superintendent
5) Maintain records of programs and personnel, and assists workers in preparation and accuracy of daily activity cards.
6) Respond to complaints and inquiries from the public, maintains good public relations and a high quality of service to the public
7) Participates and assists in the facilitation of the safety management system by:
a. Conducting monthly safety meetings and inspections.
b. Conducting safety orientations and pre-job safety meetings.
c. Assist in conducting incident investigations and implementing corrective actions.
d. Ensuring all required safety training for staff is up to date.

QUALIFICATIONS:
The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications:
Class 5 Alberta or Saskatchewan drivers licence, with a clean drivers abstract
3 years experience in a Supervisor position is preferred
Ability to plan, direct, and supervise the work staff
Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the public, contractors, and other civic staff with strong focus on customer service
