DUTIES:
The Community Planning division works pro-actively to address long range land use planning challenges and opportunities. The Planning Technician will be involved in a number of exciting projects from regional planning to neighbourhood revitalization projects. Specific duties include:
1. Organize and maintaining storage of statistics, files, documents and background literature.
2. Organize and administer research for the Community Planning division.
3. Analyze reports and prepare summaries, tables and reports.
4. Research statistical, theoretical, and practical information for Community Planning projects and initiatives.
5. Aid the planning staff in research, reports and special studies on social, economic, land use and environmental issues.
6. Work with the Geomatics division to maintain various statistical database systems for the purpose of Geographical Information Systems (GIS) and research for various projects.
7. Prepare maps and related visual projects using AutoCAD or GIS.
8. Prepare display materials for presentations and community engagement.
9. Assist the planning staff in administrative related duties for meeting preparation.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and attributes:
- A degree or technical diploma in a disciple related to land use or land use planning.
- A combination of education and experience will be considered.
- Demonstrated knowledge of planning theory and effective skills in research.
- Demonstrate and proven ability related to computer software administrative systems (graphical presentations, database, file maintenance, word processing, presentation software, spreadsheet applications, information input and retrieval)
- Must possess and maintain a valid Class 5 Vehicle Operator's License registered in Alberta or Saskatchewan, with a clean driving record.
