Description

Simpson Seeds Inc., a family-owned, Moose Jaw-based company, has grown to become the largest privately-owned specialty crop exporter in the province. With four locations and over 35 years of experience in the buying, processing and selling of specialty grains, our growing company now employs over 100 employees and exports to over 80 countries.

We are currently seeking applicants who are interested in a physically demanding position and are available to work day and evening shifts. We are recruiting for a GRAIN HANDLER  at our SWIFT CURRENT PLANT location.

Working with our Shipping Supervisor, you are primarily responsible for bagging grain, preparing bags for shipping and loading railcars. When not actively shipping, you will assist with and other general duties. As stated, regular job tasks are physically demanding and repetitive.

QUALIFICATIONS:
A minimum of some high school education.
An ability to lift up to 110 lbs.
Reliable transportation is required.
An ability to work shiftwork  Days and Evenings (The plant currently operates 5/24, Monday to Friday but may operate weekends during peak production). Some OT may be available.
Positive work ethic and a demonstrated reliability and attendance record.
An ability to work in a dusty and noisy work environment.
Effective communication skills.
Ability to work as a team and to work independently if required.
Attention to detail with very basic math skills.
Previous experience in a general labour position is ideal, but we are willing to train the right individual.
