The Rapid Re-Housing Case Management Worker will work 30 hours per week for the Saskatoon Indian and Metis Friendship Centre at the Saskatoon Friendship Inn providing the following rapid re-housing services:
- Assess housing barriers of individuals and families experiencing homelessness to determine housing and service needs.
- Develop a housing procurement, financial, and self-sufficiency case management plan with clients.
- Provide mediation and advocacy with landlords on the clients behalf to develop a workable plan to obtain and or maintain housing.
- Assist participants in locating and securing housing of their choice.
- Create and maintain consistent communication channels, both verbal and written, between several parties (i.e. tenant, landlord, referral source, collaborating agencies, debtors and creditors).
- Serve as an ongoing liaison between property managers and participants.
- Provide information and referral assistance
- Provide pro-active follow-up communications
- Apply knowledge of residential lease contracts to educate clients of their rights and responsibilities.
Minimum Job Requirements:
- Requires knowledge in Housing First philosophy and strategies.
- Minimum Education Requirements: Bachelor Degree in a related field preferred or a minimum of a two years degree/diploma in Human related services and three years related experience.
- Excellent communication skills, particularly listening, mediation, and writing skills.
- Knowledge or understanding of tenants rights and responsibilities.
- Demonstrated knowledge of community resources, social service agencies, and landlords in Saskatoon and area.
- Ability to speak an Aboriginal language is an asset
- Valid drivers license and a vehicle.
- Aboriginal candidate preferred (Please Self Identify)
- Work Monday to Friday from 8:00am to 3:00pm (1hr lunch)
