Duties and responsibilities:
- Collaborate with Quality of Life Coordinator Day Program to provide quality programs and activities for clients.
- Provide supervision of clients while participating in community and/or in-centre activities
- Transport clients to community activities
- Promote, instruct and model acceptable social behaviour for quality of life participants.
- Maintain client records including attendance, goals, programs, and communication books for parents and caregivers.
- Administer personal care to promote good hygiene, ensuring personal care is provided prior to client attending community outings.
- Facilitate individual and group programs daily to assist with delivery of quality programs and activities for clients.
- Contribute and review personal program plans to ensure the objectives of the program and the goals of the clients are being met.
- Encourage client independence daily in the areas of self-care, communication, socialization, recreation and participation to promote self-esteem.
- Maintain client documentation according to agency standards including completion of Incident Reports, contact records and file recordings
- Maintain cleanliness of program area including kitchen space and washroom daily
Qualifications:
- Disability Support Worker Certificate (Rehabilitation Worker Certificate) or Life Skills Coach and/or related training and experience working with individuals with disabilities
- Valid Class 4 drivers license
- First Aid and CPR certification as well as Lifting and Transfer techniques
- Knowledge of approved behavioural interventions and reactive strategies
- Experience working with people with varying abilities and challenging behaviours
