Description

Nakoda Oyade Education Center (NOEC)
Reporting to the Principal and NOEC School Board, the Education & Cultural Community Coordinator is responsible for the all aspects of cultural support activities to enhance cultural perspective to NOEC students.  The position will also address social and cultural issues to facilitate student's access to both local and community support.  They will work with parents/guardians, teachers, those that provide academic support and counselling at NOEC and the broader community to assist students to be successful in their academic endeavors.  

Education and Experience:
The successful candidate will possess a minimum of two years of post-secondary training in social work, human justice or equivalent post-secondary education in a related area from a provincially recognized institution with appropriate training and experience.  A bachelor degree in social work, psychology, sociology or equivalent degree program would be an asset.  Experience developing and maintaining strong connections to and knowledge of First Nations history, culture and protocols; program planning, development, implementation, data collection and evaluation and budgeting; presenting educational workshops and facilitating groups, in particular Youth and experience in the delivery of human services would be an asset.  (Human services in this context refers to experience in areas such as social work, health care, justice, counselling and community development.)  Experience using a computer for word processing would be an asset.  Fluency in Nakoda language is also an asset.
