Employees in this temporary summer student position will provide technical and/or research support for a variety of assignments within the Hydrometric program, assisting with the spring and summer operations in maintaining the hydrometric network. Typical duties and responsibilities may include:
Assisting with the construction activities;
Accompanying hydrometric technicians on field trips for data collection and station maintenance
Performing office duties in support of the real time hydrometric data acquisition and publication.
Maintaining shift corrections and adding/updating data in Aquarius will be required. One will develop and maintain the real time web page and other reporting. They will undertake hydrometric and hydrology projects like Craven water level study, dam safety project.
Preference will be given to college or university students enrolled in an Engineering or Geoscience Degree program or in an Engineering Technology Diploma program. Applicants require knowledge of MS Office Suite, skill in written and verbal communications, and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. A high degree of independence and attention to detail is also needed. Work can require considerable travel, an irregular work schedule, and, on occasion, extended absences from headquarters. Travel, sustenance, and accommodations will be provided when required to work away from headquarters.
