As an employee in this temporary summer student position, you will provide technical and/or research support for a variety of assignments within the Hydrology & Groundwater Unit. Typical duties and responsibilities may include:
Assist with developing and updating tools for manipulating and visualizing hydrologic data;
Assist with developing hydrologic information products and tools (e.g. frequency analysis);
Assist with research and implementation of hydrologic conditions and water management indicators;
Assist with updating and recalibration of hydraulic models.
Preference will be given to university students enrolled in an Engineering or Geoscience Degree program. Applicants require knowledge of MS Office Suite, skill in written and verbal communications, and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. Skill in use of Geographic Information System software would be an asset. Understanding of the principles of hydrology and hydraulic modeling would also be an asset. A high degree of independence and attention to detail is also needed. Although there may be an opportunity to participate in a limited amount of fieldwork, this is primarily an office position.
