Description

Summary Oversees activities of workers concerned with construction of shafts, tunnels and pipe installation below ground by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned as required.

o    Study specifications and plans; write procedures for construction for each phase of the work assigned.

o    Providing support for tunneling and shaft activities

o    Order and procurement of tools, supplies and materials to be delivered at specified times to conform to work schedules.

o    Confers with supervisory personnel and subcontractors engaged in planning and executing work procedures, interpreting specifications, and coordinating various phases of construction to prevent delays.

o    Confers with supervisory personnel and labor representatives to resolve complaints and grievances within work force.

o    Confers with supervisory and engineering personnel and inspectors and suppliers of tools and materials to resolve construction problems and improve construction methods.

o    Inspects work in progress to ensure that workmanship conforms to specifications and the adherence to construction schedules.

o    Prepares or reviews reports on progress, materials used and costs, and adjusts work schedules as indicated by reports.

o    Responsible for ensuring that the equipment is set to precise line and grade during the set up of the equipment.  

o    During mining ensures that the tunnel pipe are properly inspected and prepared for installation before the pipe is lowered into the shaft.  

o    Trains new employees and orientation of field operations
