SENIOR TRANSPORTATION PLANNER
REGINA OR SASKTOON
MMM is seeking a Sr Transportation Planner, who will be involved in projects throughout the province and with staff in both locations, and will manage people and projects within the team.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Analyze transportation alternatives and identify benefits/costs;
Develop highway corridor studies and functional designs;
Conduct traffic operations analysis using packages such as Synchro or Vissim;
Oversee transportation system/network planning and development of transportation master plans
Conduct sustainable transportation analyses;
Responsible for interpretation and reporting of travel forecast results and plans, communication of findings to clients/stakeholders;
Liaise with team members and the public;
Prepare study schedules, proposals and project reports;
Lead project meetings and make presentations to clients;
Mentor and supervise staff related to transportation planning and work closely with other departments to develop multi-disciplinary solutions; and,
The candidate will have the desire and ability to advance to a management position.
QUALIFICATIONS
Post-secondary education in Civil Engineering, Planning or a related field from an accredited university;
Minimum 7 years of related experience is an asset;
Experience in transportation planning
Ability to undertake complex technical analysis, using tools such as travel demand forecasting (e.g. EMME, TransCAD, VISUM), micro-simulation (e.g. VISSIM, Synchro), and GIS database software;
Experience with travel demand forecasting would be an asset;
Experience in project coordination;
Good communication and presentation skills are essential;
Excellent analytic and decision-making skills, with a commitment to excellence and high quality work; and,
Demonstrated ability to write proposals, business cases and technical reports.

- Confer with appropriate authorities and interest groups to formulate and develop land use or community plans
- Compile and analyze data on factors affecting land use
