We are seeking an accountant for a rapidly expanding Saskatoon based general contractor that is focused on the design and construction of commercial, retail and industrial buildings. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the accounting cycle including A/R, A/P, payroll, bank reconciliations and general accounting/administrative duties. The successful candidate must be very comfortable with computer systems and possess post-secondary accounting training. This individual will work closely with the General Manager and fulfil an integral role in preparing financial reports and providing financial analysis for the Company.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the accurate entry and processing/coding of accounts payable while ensuring the appropriate release of payments to vendors as per agreements
- Assist in the implementation and maintenance of systems and procedures pertaining to Subcontractor pre-qualification process, equipment revenue and cost tracking, internal management reporting and mobile field personnel management systems
- Assist project managers in the calculation and reconciliation of monthly customer progress billings
- Prepare monthly balance sheet, income statement and cash flow statements
- Oversee the payroll process ensuring that all of the 55+ hourly employees are paid in accordance with labour standards
- Assist with the oversight and maintenance of the information technology needs of the company
Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years experience as an Accountant in private industry or public practice. Experience in construction is an asset but not required
- College diploma or university degree in accounting/business is an asset
- Proficient in Microsoft Word/Excel and generally very comfortable using a computer for day to day activities
- Experience with computerized accounting systems
