The Global Institute for Water Security (GIWS) at the University of Saskatchewan is recruiting an experienced data visualization specialist and software developer with the competencies to develop an interactive, multi-media graphical user interface (GUI) for computer-based modelling programs (already developed at GIWS). The successful candidate will work with a team of water resources scientists, policy experts, and local water managers to: (1) develop a graphical user interface to visualize various types of data (hydrological and water resources and policy) through animations and static and interactive graphics and (2) customize the interface for different users groups via highly flexible and intuitive switches, icons, and adjustable features. The final product will run with several already developed computer programs. The interface product will be used both for scientific investigation (climate-change assessment, sensitivity analysis) and for public use with potentially a large number of users with different educational backgrounds. The successful candidate for this position will be expected to balance the need for an aesthetically pleasing and scientifically valid visualization. Other GIWS visualization projects may also be part of the work assignment.
Length of term, compensation package, and hours of work will be assessed based on experience of candidate.
