Position Summary:
The Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanic will perform maintenance and repair activities on specialty slurry wall construction equipment, including specialty cranes and extended reach excavators.  Slurry wall equipment is unique, in that the equipment is very specialized and only a few pieces of equipment of their size and specifications exist in North America.  

Job Description:
Essential Functions:
    Perform maintenance and repair work on specialty slurry wall construction equipment and ensure the safety of the equipment
    Operate specialty equipment to ensure mechanical problems are resolved and repair work is complete
    Instruct Operators and Mechanics in the proper maintenance and repair of equipment and other related tasks

Qualifications:
    Must possess a minimum of 5 years experience working on slurry trench cranes, clams, chisels, extended reach excavators and other specialty equipment  
    Knowledge and experience performing repair work on specialty equipment including Liebheer cranes with hydraulic clam shells, large excavators with extended stick and boom, loaders, dozers, and forklifts required
    Completion of a 3-5 year Apprenticeship Program OR a combination of 5 years related work experience in the trade and some high school, college or industry courses in heavy equipment repair is usually required to be eligible for trade certification
    Knowledge of equipment safety, including performing inspections and working on specialty equipment to keep it in safe working condition
    Must be able to operate specialty equipment as necessary to troubleshoot productivity and mechanical problems
    Extensive travel required for this position, benefits include per diem and travel expenses
