Description

A challenging career opportunity exists in La Ronge, Saskatchewan with the Mental Health Program for an energetic, caring professional who can exercise sound clinical judgment.  This position will provide professional counseling in non-traditional ways in non-clinical settings with flexible work hours to children, families, individuals and groups who are receiving supportive services of the Kids First NORTH program - a program for very vulnerable families with young children who live within the MCRRHA region. It will provide professional consultation and guidance to Kids First NORTH Home Visitors, Regional Supervisors, and to community based programs associated with Kids First NORTH.  Although the position is based in La Ronge it requires frequent travel to work with Kids First NORTH families and staff in Sandy Bay, Pinehouse and La Ronge.  Travel on gravel roads and in light aircraft is required.  The ability to speak Cree would be an asset in this position.

To qualify you will possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities:
- Bachelor of Social Work, Indian Social Work
- Knowledge of the dynamics and the intervention skills related to family systems
- Knowledge of the effects of trauma and abuse
- Knowledge of human development and change
- Ability to deal with crisis situations and conduct suicide risk assessments
- Ability to assess clients, develop and implement care plans
- Work independently and interdependently as a member of a multidisciplinary team
- Ability to establish effective working relationships with a diverse range of community groups and service providers
- Be innovative, flexible and culturally sensitive in working with clients
- Valid Saskatchewan Driver's License

Preference for this position will be given to HSAS members in accordance with the terms and conditions of the SAHO/HSAS Collective Agreement.
