The Information Technology Associate's duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: assist in designing, implementing, and managing the College network system and email to provide a secure and virus-free environment; maintain an inventory College computer equipment and software; research and implement computer systems, network topologies, and software; coordinate the purchase of computer equipment and software on a College-wide basis; troubleshoot and solve technical and software computer problems; provide technical support, computer training, and advice to staff; assist with orienting new staff; provide technical advice on technology enhanced learning initiatives; assist in developing or modifying College policy and procedures; provide oral and written reports as required; identify procedural problems and implement solutions; and remain current in hardware, software and network technologies
The minimal qualifications for this position are: a relevant two-year post-secondary diploma or equivalent; more than two (2) years of related experience; must be prepared to schedule hours of work according to the demands of the position including evenings and weekends when necessary (ie: field hours), must possess a valid driver's license and be willing to travel including overnight stays, air travel, and travel on gravel roads in all-weather conditions; must be able to lift computers and equipment while loading into and out of vehicles, classrooms, and other buildings; advanced computer skills in designing and managing servers, computers, networks, and e-mail systems; in-depth knowledge of a variety of software packages (e.g. accounting, database, spreadsheet, word processing); proven ability to practice effective time management and prioritize work; and proven ability to work independently and make sound decisions while maintaining good judgment in keeping supervisors and coworkers apprised of important development
