Purpose: Responsible for movement of all members and non-members organic grain and associated documentation and relationships with logistics partners.
a. liaise and maintain relationships with logistics companies including brokers, trucking companies
b. negotiate freight rates with logistics companies including brokers, trucking companies and rail lines
c. coordinate shipping activity including but not limited to: booking shipments; issuing bills of lading; booking dock appointments with customers, processors and farmers; collecting settlement sheets and scale tickets from buyers, provide additional information that custom border requires
d. communicate with logistics companies to gather and record planned and actual shipment status information, file damage claims if it is applicable and follow up with the claims process
e. liaises with farmer to co-ordinate picking up their product for all sales through the co-op
f. identifies and responds to potential and actual exceptional conditions, taking action to ensure timely and satisfactory resolution
g. communicates planned as well as exceptional conditions to colleagues, customers, processors, farmers
h. maintain in-house systems for tracking shipments
i. Communicate with production line regarding received POs and update warehouse inventory; assist with production schedules and products shipping; prepare bag tags and purchase order paperwork, such as pallet tags, packing slip etc.
j. Inform warehouse on all outbound and inbound shipments
k. Schedule with processors for products cleaning/processing; prepare processing instructions and bag tags and collect processing reports
l. identifies and recommends changes in the process which improve efficiency or service level
