JOB PURPOSE:
Reporting to the Purchasing Manager, the Purchaser/Logistics Coordinator has two primary areas of responsibility:
1) To support quality manufacturing operations by managing assigned supplier accounts and consistently purchasing quality materials for best value in correct quantities that are delivered to the right location on time. The purchaser increases operational efficiencies by keeping inventory levels, purchase price, freight and other carrying costs at a minimum.
2) To increase operational efficiencies by negotiating agreements and rates with carriers that optimize freight expenses and utilize the DIL truck to best efficiency.
REQUIREMENTS:
* A bachelors degree or college diploma in a related field (business administration or commerce) or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
* Minimum one year work experience in an administrative or customer service role is preferred; experience in a manufacturing environment is considered an asset.
* Education or experience related to supply chain management is an asset.
* Computer proficiency (Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint) is required; experience with computerized ERP or purchasing systems is an asset.
