Applicants must be physically able to carry some
weight up and down stairs, sweep, clean and
disinfect 2 dining rooms, assist the cook with
dish washing and other minimal tasks and do other
duties as the work environment changes to meet the
needs of the Centre. Past
cooking experience is an asset. Covering the cook
when he is away will be mandatory. All
applicants must have or be willing to achieve
their Safe Food Handling certificate, CPR and
First Aid, a criminal record check with a
vulnerable sector query and a TB test.
Successful applicant must be motivated and able to
work independently.
Dishwashing Skills
- Scour pots and pans
- Sanitize and wash dishes and other items by hand
- Clean and sanitize items such as dishwasher mats, carts and waste disposal units
- Operate dishwashers to wash dishes, glassware and flatware
Essential Skills

Counter Attendant and Food Preparer Skills
- Use manual and electrical appliances to clean, peel, slice and trim foodstuffs
Kitchen Helping Skills
- Wash, peel and cut vegetables and fruit
- Remove kitchen garbage and trash
- Receive, unpack and store supplies in refrigerators, freezers, cupboards and other storage areas
- Handle and store cleaning products
- Clean and sanitize kitchen including work surfaces, cupboards, storage areas, appliances and equipment
- Sweep and mop floors
Bussing Skills
- Set tables
- Replace linen
- Replenish condiments and other supplies at tables and serving areas
- Load buspans and trays
- Clear and clean tables, trays and chairs
Weight Handling
- Up to 13.5 kg (30 lbs)
