The TM Specialist will work with the Medical Director to support a multidisciplinary approach to transfusion medicine by collaborating, consulting and coordinating with physicians and other health providers in the regional health authorities responsible for the delivery of transfusion services. The primary focus of this position is to achieve high quality, cost-effective, vein-to-vein transfusion services that put patients first in Saskatchewan. The TM Specialist will support the Medical Director in their role, to include playing a key role in establishing medical protocols in alignment with regulatory requirements and standards, providing guidance, leadership and instruction to multidisciplinary lab staff, providing medical education to residents and physicians in the area of transfusion practices and adverse event management, developing transfusion policies and practices, developing and championing an ongoing quality assurance process, and administrative management of resources. Qualifications / Requirements of the position Applicants must have or be eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (Hematology or Hematopathology) with specific training in Transfusion Medicine or a suitable combination of training and experience. Applicants must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan.
