Position profile - Reporting to the Chief Medical Health Officer, the Deputy Medical Health Officer (DMHO) functions as a public health physician leader and consultant to Population and Public Health staff as well as a wide variety of other health personnel in the Health Region. Working in a dyad model with the Manager(s) of the departments to which they are assigned, the Deputy Medical Health Officer will assist in the departmental strategic planning and overall strategic planning for Population and Public Health. The successful candidate will also work towards the integration of a population health perspective with the rest of the services provided by the Health Region. They will also work closely with community partners and clinicians to develop partnerships, participate in joint planning and provide clinical consultative services to various population and public health programs and services. An ability to work cooperatively in a team setting will be essential. An interest in research and teaching would be an asset as academic linkages are possible.
Experience - While experience as a medical specialist in Public Health is an asset, we will also consider new graduates from Public Health and Preventative Medicine residency programs.
Qualifications / Requirements of the position - Applicants must have or be eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in the specialty of Public Health and Preventative Medicine. Applicants must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan.
