Nature & Scope
The primary focus of this position will be to ensure children and youth are provided with a variety of age appropriate activities/programming that supports their positive growth in spirit, mind and body. After School Program Leaders are directly responsible for delivering fun, safe and positive experiences for groups of 8 15 children aged 6-12 years. Additionally, they must be able to develop a program curriculum that includes, but is not limited to themed programs, creative movement, literacy, and sports-based programs.
Duties & Responsibilities
To be available for work during after school hours, on non-school days, school breaks and early dismissal days.
To be available to consistently lead all programs assigned.
To be able to create and adapt plans appropriate to the program, skill level and age of the participants.
-To keep program areas clean, organized, and safe for everyones use checking for potential health and safety hazards at all times and completing incident reports when necessary.
-To develop positive relationships with children, staff members and volunteers, while always displaying a professional image.
-To adhere to all YMCA child protection policies and procedures.
-Ensures compliance with YMCA policies and procedures.
Qualifications & Requirements
-1-2 years of Experience working with children and youth
-A valid class 5 license
-Experience with program development is an asset
-Current First Aid and CPR Level C
-Successful candidates will be required to provide a current and satisfactory Criminal Record Check/Vulnerable Sector Search & Child Welfare Check issued no later than one month preceding your start date.
