Description

Simpson Seeds Inc., a Moose Jaw-based company, has grown to become the largest privately-owned specialty crop exporter in the province. With four locations and over 35 years of experience in the buying, processing and selling of specialty grains, our growing company now employs over 100 people and exports to over 80 countries.

We are seeking individuals who are interested in exceling within our operations and also seeking long term employment.

We are recruiting for the position of PLANT OPERATOR TRAINEE at our Moose Jaw head office location. As a new trainee, you will be oriented in all aspects of cleaning/processing grain (primarily lentils), doing quality checks, operating and maintaining plant equipment and ensuring our standards for our customers around the world are exceeded. You will also learn about receiving and shipping our product. Upon completion of the training period, you will have the potential to advance to the position of Plant Operator. Currently, we operate Monday to Friday 24 hours a day with some additional shifts on Saturday. However, the plan is to operate 7x24. Availability to work shiftwork is a mandatory requirement for new trainees.

Core Duties/Responsibilities:
You will assist in the cleaning of all grains. This includes making sure that the products are being cleaned as per specifications,
monitoring and recording production information, and provide backup to the operations team.

The successful applicant will possess the following skills:

Ability to work in a dusty work environment.
Mechanical aptitude is ideal.

As we are willing to train a qualified candidate, no experience in the field is required.
