Description

This is a MATERNITY LEAVE TERM POSITION.
Successful applicant will be responsible for managing the day to day operations of a government licensed daycare. The successful applicant must:
(a) be at least 18 years of age;
(b) meet or exceed the qualifications of an early childhood educator Level III.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
All aspects of bookkeeping (A/R, A/P, Invoicing, Collections, Payroll, etc.)
Recruits qualified staff
Arranges appropriate staff scheduling
Provides orientation for new staff and volunteers
Conducts regular performance reviews
Implementation appropriate disciplinary action
Manages human resources according to applicable regulatory requirements.
Completes required licensing requirements with assistance from Consultant
Develops required operational procedures
Ensures the implementation of a developmentally appropriate program
Ensure the implementation of an inclusive program and environment
Acts as positive role model for children & staff
Attends all board meetings in an advisory capacity
Ensures the centre meets all legal requirements
Informs the board of government initiatives which effect the delivery of child care with input from the Consultant
Acts as a liaison between the board and staff or parents, ensuring all concerns and complaints are addressed
Orientates families when enrolling

 

Skills and Abilities

Credentials (certificates, licences, memberships, courses, etc.)
 - Early Childhood Education Diploma or Degree
Early Childhood Education Skills
 - Provide opportunity for creative expression through the mediums of art, dramatic play and music
 - Provide supervision and guidance of daily activities, field trips and special activities
 - Prepare progress reports and discuss with parents and other staff members
 - Plan and develop child care and nursery school programs
 - Assess the developmental level of children
 - Knowledge of Day Nurseries Act
 - Knowledge of licensing regulations
