The Position:
The individual will provide Information Technology support to our project teams and join one of our project teams as a software developer. Our teams develop software for systems that include real-time equipment control, complex proprietary communication protocols, high-availability/scalable architectures and graphical user interfaces featuring sophisticated real-time updates, and complex data visualizations.
IT support activities include the set up and configuration of computer systems and virtual machine, updating and installing new software services such as automatic build tools and other development tools, and computer system procurement support.
The Person:
This position will be of interest to candidates with:
A diploma in Computer Systems Technology or a related discipline;
The ability to integrate well into a team environment, to quickly solve complex problems, and to easily adapt to new technologies;
Proficiency in C++ and Java; and,
Proficiency in Linux system administration.
The selected candidate will perform information technology related tasks including:
Maintaining services including:
oSetting up virtual machines;
oSecuring software services;
oBasic networking support; and,
oSelecting and evaluating new services.
Contributing to the development of software through:
oLearning how to do detailed design;
oCoding and unit testing as directed;
oLearning budgets and schedules; and,
oLearning how to solve problems that occur during the development of software.
