Description

Westmoreland Coal Company, Canada currently has a position available for a permanent, full-time Shop Supervisor at the Estevan Mine. Reporting to the Maintenance Superintendent, this position is responsible for all aspects of mine maintenance.
    
Duties and Responsibilities
Responsibilities include a wide range of activities including, but not limited to:
.     Coordinating maintenance activities in conjunction with Operational requirements;
.    Assigning daily job tasks to maintenance employees (heavy duty mechanics, servicemen, wash bay attendants, welders, etc.) as well as contractor personnel when required;
.    Supervising and coordinating the day-to-day duties of maintenance apprentices, as well as compiling any documentation required by the Company as part of the apprentice training program (on-the-job hours worked, experience gained, etc);
.    Generating maintenance work orders;
.    Attending meetings and training sessions, some of which may be on scheduled days off;
.    Working closely with the maintenance planners and the warehouse personnel for needed repair components;
.    Review safety incidents and conduct crew reviews as required;
.    Assuming other duties and responsibilities as may be required in response to changing circumstances and the economical and physical environment of the Company.

Qualifications
   The ideal candidate will:
.    Be a high school grad or equivalent with trades experience or mechanical engineering background;
.    Have a minimum of five (5) years of related experience in the area of maintenance/repair of mining equipment. Other combinations of education and experience may be considered;
.    Have previous supervisory experience (considered an asset; however, not a requirement);
.    Be required to hold a mining certificate or license;
.    Be a highly motivated self-starter, possessing good interpersonal and organizational skills.
