Description

Helping you feel safe and live well for sixty-five years, GMS (Group Medical Services), Canadas health and travel insurance expert, has an immediate career opportunity for a Claims Assessor in our Claims Department..

Reporting to the Team Lead of Claims, as a Claims Assessor you will be responsible for investigating, evaluating, and adjudicating claims. You will confer with service providers and colleagues as well as review member history, eligibility and benefit levels to adjudicate claims. The ideal candidate will have excellent verbal and written communication skills and great attention to detail.

Position Responsibilities:
-Review GMS policies, benefits, and procedures in order to determine eligibility of claims;
-Investigate, assess, and adjudicate claims;
-Contact clients and providers by phone or email to gather further information;
-Process claims accurately using GMS systems while maintaining an efficient turnaround time;
-Provide general administrative support such as: filing, copying, sorting;
-Identify opportunities for departmental or system improvements and suggest appropriate solutions.

Qualifications
- Completion of post-secondary education is preferred or equivalent combination of education and three years work experience in a related field.
-Strong computer skills and experience using Microsoft Office.
-Ability to work independently.
- Excellent attention to detail is essential.
- Experience with adjudicating insurance claims, medical knowledge, dental knowledge and/or a medical terminology course is an asset.
