The PD Consultant cares for medically fragile children with diverse physical/mental needs. This role also provides individual/specialized physical therapy programming to meet the needs of these children.
The PD Consultant shall:
- Perform physical therapies, develop/implement programming, maintain accurate records pertaining to development of children
- Attend to adapted equipment needs (i.e. walker, standing frame, etc.); report concerns to supporting professionals
- Attend childrens appointments at rehabilitation centers
- Assist Developmental Workers (DWs) using assessments/ anecdotal records to document milestones, set goals, and create action plans for future development
- Develop and participate in Enhanced Accessibility grant meetings
- Work with childrens support teams to develop Personal Program Plans (PPP) and program activities to help meet personal development goals
- Assist Director of Education in maintaining full capacity on EA grant spaces
- Communicate with supporting professionals; maintain up-to-date records on therapy programming
- Evaluate needs for supplies and equipment
- Maintain current communications with outside agencies regarding development goals and care plans
- Attend to personal care duties as required (bathroom needs, hygiene, feeding, etc.)
- Provide assistance while promoting appropriate and positive behaviour, independence and self-confidence
- Attend therapy meetings
- Perform physical therapy programs
Qualifications
a)Degree in Kinesiology majoring in Adaptive Physical Activity (preferred)
b)Physical Therapy Assistant Course (minimum requirement)
