Description

The Traditional Knowledge Keeper: First Nations Perspectives provides leadership in the inclusion of First Nations content and perspectives at Saskatoon Public Schools with the goal to create culturally responsive learning environments and improve student learning outcomes. The successful candidate will have a Grade 12 or equivalent standing.  Preference will be given to candidates with additional post-secondary training in areas such as social work or native studies.  The successful candidate will have two years of experience in a related area (i.e. community organizations or social justice) with the ability to work independently without direct supervision.  A strong understanding of First Nations culture, languages, histories, traditions, values and perspectives with the ability to assist and work with Elders and Cultural Leaders is important.  The successful candidate will be able to connect with First Nations and Metis cultural agencies and develop and maintain good working relationships with all levels of staff within schools, Partnership organizations and with First Nation and Metis families and communities.  The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills with the ability to work in a team setting. Intermediate computer skills including email, internet and Microsoft Office products is required.  The successful candidate must possess a valid drivers license and have access to a reliable vehicle.
