Managing and administering the Finance Department including preparation, administration and monitoring of operating and capital budgets, monthly accounting, financial planning and reporting. Produce and analyze financial information critical to our organization interests. Create and present financial reports to management regarding accounting data to enable knowledge based decision making forecasts. Handle financial plans and policies, accounting practices, the conduct of relationships with lending institutions and the financial community. Maintenance of financial records, and preparing financial reports including monthly bank reconciliations.
- University Degree in Business or Commerce majoring in Accounting or an Accounting Diploma with a minimum of five (5) years' experience in a comparable position with working knowledge in computerized (accpac) accounting;
- Knowledge of accepted accounting rules, practices, laws, are reporting requirements;
- Strong technology skills and ability to work as a member of a multidisciplinary team;
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills that promote mutually beneficial and respectful professional relationships;
- Ability to write concise reports to various audiences; computer literate, including effective working skills of MS Work, Excel, and email
- Ability to represent and promote Peepeekisis First Nation programs and services; familiar with First Nations culture and traditions;
- Ability to work efficiently as part of a team as well as independently;
- High level of critical and logical thinking, analysis, and/or reasoning to identify underlying principles, reasons, or facts;
- Able to work under pressure and meet set deadlines; good organizational, time management and prioritizing procedures;
- Ability to interpret and implement PPKCN policies and procedures;
- Attention to detail; respect and adherence to confidentiality guidelines;
- Must have CPIC completed prior to interview and must be bondable.
