Reporting to the Branch Head, the Assistant Branch Head assists in the development and delivery of a full range of professional library services in the branch through the provision of reference and readers advisory services to patrons, assisting in the supervision of staff and advising the Branch Head on staff development and training. The Assistant Branch Head participates in the development of processes and procedures to ensure effective delivery of patron service and efficient use of resources; participates in the implementation of new services or service changes with the library through project and team assignments, for example collection development teams; and promotes the library through active communication with local community agencies.
