Description

The Infection Control Practitioner provides expert consultation and advice in the development and evaluation of the Infection Control Programs within the Keewatin Yatthe Health Region, the Mamawetan Churchill River Health Region, and the Athabasca Health Authority. The infection prevention and control (IPC) program is comprehensive, covering a broad range of activities that minimize healthcare acquired infections and transmission of communicable diseases for staff, patients, visitors and the general public.

To qualify you will possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities:
- Bachelor's Degree in Health Services (e.g., Nursing, Medical Lab Technology, Epidemiology)
- Certification as an Infection Control Practitioner in Canada (CIC) or certification acquired within 2 years of hire.
- Two years experience in a health care setting.
- Expert infection control knowledge required to act as a resource and problem solve infection control issues
- The ability to effectively articulate the important components of an infection prevention and control program with all levels of personnel/clients
- Knowledge of epidemiological principles, statistics, microbiology, and infectious diseases.
- The ability to integrate this knowledge into infection control practice.
- Demonstrated presentation, teaching, written and communication skills including computer literacy, problem solving skills and decision making ability.
- The ability to work independently and also in a collaborative manner.
- Effective leadership and management skills
- Knowledge of and ability to use the principles of continuous quality improvement
- Good skills in computer databases, spreadsheets, Word, PowerPoint, internet searches
- Ability to travel on gravel roads and in small chartered aircraft.
- A current Saskatchewan Driver's licence.
- The successful candidate shall be required to provide a satisfactory Criminal Record Check.
