Description

The Planning & Development Officer is primarily responsible for developing, implementing & monitoring long-term planning, goals & objectives focused on achieving Kindersley's vision, mission & Council priorities.

Duties & Responsibilities
Consulting, liaising, & providing input using your professional planning skills & knowledge.
Working with prospective developers to prepare & recommend concept plans, detailed design & subdivision plans, policy changes, business plans & administrative processes for the implementation of approved directions.
Designing & undertaking land use studies
Preparing & delivering presentations & reports to Council & the public.
Overseeing planning & infrastructure projects; coordinates project activities with other Town departments, retained engineers & outside agencies & utilities.
Interacting with residents, businesses & developers.
Assisting Building Inspector with development & building permits & building inspection in compliance with the Zoning & Building Bylaws.
GPS data capture & site inspections as required
Assisting in the implementation of the Town's GIS system & providing GIS services in support of CAD activities

Requirements:
Undergraduate degree in urban planning or equivalent from an accredited university.
Membership in the Canadian Institute of Planners is an asset.
A minimum of 2 years' experience in a municipal planning function.
Knowledge of planning policies & the Saskatchewan Planning & Development Act.
Excellent customer service skills with a proficiency in interpersonal relationships.
Ability to motivate, plan, guide, direct & evaluate people & activities.
Experience with AutoCAD & ArcGIS
Self-starter, strong interpersonal, communication & organization skills.
Committed team player.

An equivalent combination of education, training & experience may be considered.
