The successful candidate will be involved and coordinate several projects related to animal models including a Chronic Kidney Disease Study in a feline model and a Prostate Study in a canine model. He/she will assist in the coordination and daily operation of the nuclear medicine and medical imaging research program, including the research activities of graduate (both M.S. and Ph.D.) students, technicians and collaborators; be involved in various grant-related activities, and preparation of research reports and manuscripts for publication.
Wage: The recipient will receive a stipend of $35,000 with payments being made on a monthly basis.Because the recipient is a trainee and not an employee of the University of Saskatchewan, the recipient is not entitled to employment benefits. Deductions for Canadian income tax will be made from the monthly stipend, but the stipend is not subject to source deductions for Employment Insurance or Canada Pension Plan.
Skill Requirements: Minimum qualifications include a Ph.D. in one of the following areas: nuclear and other imaging, image processing, engineering, biomedical sciences, organ physiology, cell molecular biology, expertise in data interpretation and publication of results in the scientific literature; and strong written and oral communication skills. Preferred qualifications include organizational skills; experience with grant writing, manuscript preparation, biosafety permits and ethic approvals; experience with teaching and supervising undergraduate and graduate students; and a demonstrated ability to work independently and with a team, support personnel, and students in a collaborative research environment. Background/experience in medical imaging is preferred but not required.
The expected start date is Nov. 1, 2014.
