The kennel attendant/animal rescue person performs duties to ensure quality care and treatment of all shelter's animals. Responsibilities include cleaning of kennels / cages, administering medications, feeding of animals, general grounds keeping, completing relevant paperwork, and other tasks as assigned.
The kennel attendant also serves as an adoption counsellor, and must be able to work independently as well as with a team under minimal supervision.
The ideal candidate will have excellent observation, reporting and overall communication skills. Applicants must be physically fit and be willing to work in adverse outdoor weather conditions.
This candidate would have to be available to respond to calls regarding injured animals / animals in distress. Applicants must have a valid drivers license.
Experience with companion animals and general breed knowledge would be an asset. The applicant must have excellent customer service skills, be able to maintain confidentiality and deal with the public in a positive, compassionate, and respectful manner.
This position is a part-time but for the right candidate more hours could be offered.
