Reporting to the Lab Supervisor, the Laboratory Technician is responsible for the timely and orderly flow of analysis originating in the mill, load out, and mine.
Please note that this is a temporary, full-time opportunity with an expected duration of November 2014 through to the end of the 2015 Agrium VPO Canpotex run (estimated December 2015).
Specific Responsibilities
Be responsible for the timely and orderly flow of analysis originating on site.
Ensure the accuracy of all analytical information processed.
Report significant deviations from standards to the supervisor.
Have the ability to use all laboratory equipment.
Under the direction of the Lab Supervisor, the Analytical Laboratory Technician is responsible for expeditiously completing routine shipment, mill development and mill control analysis, and mine samples. The incumbent will also fully participate in the Laboratory QA/QC program.
Fully support and follow lab procedures and safety policies.
All lab personnel are responsible for maintaining a safe, clean, and orderly work environment.
Qualifications
Minimum Grade 12 Education.
Detail orientated.
Eager to learn and work in a fast pace environment.
Able to work with minimal supervision.
Preferred candidate would have a Chemical technology diploma or other post-secondary training in Chemistry.
The successful candidate would use various analytical instruments in the laboratory. This includes the X-ray Spectrometer, Atomic Absorption Spectrometer, analytical balances, and pH meter. Training will be provided.
Knowledge of SAP is an asset.
Hours of work
Work schedule is shift including weekends and nights.
