Description

Established in 1913, the Town of Shaunavon has a population base of over 2,000 residents and is located close to some of the best recreation areas that the province has to offer. Shaunavon is a vibrant community nestled in the Southwest corner of Saskatchewan with various businesses that provide a wide range of products and services for their community. Shaunavon has developed into a major service centre for the regions agriculture and energy industries.

Chief Administrative Officer (Town of Shaunavon)

The Chief Administrative Officer is required to report to Council and provide leadership and direction, not only to Council members, but to employees of the Town of Shaunavon. This position requires an individual who can identify and evaluate risks and maintain high levels of efficiency and productivity while developing policies and procedures. The Chief Administrative Officer manages the operating budget, provides strategic direction and monitors contracts and legislation. Establishing a succession plan, managing office resources and preparing budgets are key requirements of this role. The Chief Administrative Officer will continue to promote Shaunavon as a town known for growth and success.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate solid experience in rural/municipal operations and possess economic development knowledge. The proven ability to perform in a multi-stakeholder environment through positive collaboration and excellent interpersonal skills are a must. A Local Government Authority (LGA) C Certification with in-depth knowledge of The Municipalities Act is required. Demonstrated success building and maintaining relationships within the community, both internally and externally are key indicators of future success in this role. The CAO will be a proven leader, logical decision maker and a self-starter.
