Simpson Seeds Inc., a family-owned, Saskatchewan-based company, has grown to become the largest privately-owned specialty crop exporter in the province. Working with the Maintenance team and Plant Operators, the incumbent is responsible for assisting and ensuring that all plant equipment is in good repair and functioning properly. Under the direction of the Maintenance Manager, he/she will perform regular assessments of equipment and machinery, make recommendations on day to day and longer term maintenance, and will carry out maintenance directives as required. In addition, the individual is responsible for general duties such as maintaining the organization and cleanliness of the facilities inside and outside.
Essential Skills:
Some post-secondary educations coupled with a minimum of 1-2 years of general maintenance repair experience - preferably in a processing or manufacturing facility.
Proven mechanical aptitude and abilities.
Valid driver's license.
Positive work ethic
Ability to follow instructions both oral and written.
Availability to work shift work Days/Evenings and be available for call in on weekends and evenings as per the shared schedule.
Attention to detail and the ability to meet timelines.
Ability to work effectively with a team, as well as work independently with minimal supervision.
Effective communication skills both verbally and in writing.
Critical thinking and decision-making.
Core computer skills and a working knowledge of Excel and Outlook.
A farming background is an asset.
