The role of Developmental Worker is to care for
children with diverse physical and mental needs. A
Developmental Worker assists in the delivery of
programming to meet the growth and developmental
needs of medically fragile children.
Qualifications, Skills & Abilities
Completion of (at least) one of the following:
1. Education Assistant Program
2. Rehabilitation Worker Program
3. Recreational Therapist Program
4. Kinesiology Degree- Adaptive Physical Activity
Or possess relevant and applicable education with
special needs (minimum 1 year experience)
-Possess the ability to handle physically
demanding and challenging tasks
-Demonstration of strong interpersonal and public
relation skills
-Strong written and verbal communication skills;
excellent organizational skills
-Demonstration of basic technology use
-Sense of professionalism, leadership, awareness
and appreciation of diversity
-Expresses a concern for health, safety and the
environmental surroundings
-Ability to work as a team player and
accountability in independent decision making
-Demonstrate the ability to work effectively with
different behavioral physical disorders
-Physical ability to maneuver equipment required
by children (lifts, wheelchairs, standing frames.
etc)
-Physical ability to perform and safely work with
objects or persons of varying sized
-Preference will be shown to those with the
following:
-Ventilator experience/training
-Mandt System training
-Transfer, lifting, and reposition training
-Sign Language training
-Learning Language and Loving it Training.
