REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS

POSITION: Independent Legal Advisor  Treaty Rights Protection Fund

The Treaty Rights Protection Fund (TRPF) is looking for an Independent Legal Advisor contracted specifically to provide legal advice to the Treaty Rights Protection Fund. The requirements for the position shall include:

o    providing legal advice on applications submitted to the TRPF
o    attendance at all tribunal meetings, estimated at four (4) meetings per year
o    follow up on files approved by the TRPF including progress of cases and legal outcomes for the purpose of reporting to the Tribunal
o    liaise with the administrator of the program and assist in the organization of meetings
o    other minor duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Must be a practicing lawyer in good standing with the Law Society; have current experience working directly with First Nation Bands and/or First Nation organizations; and current experience working directly with or be familiar with the relevant legislation, policies and governing structures.

SALARY & BENEFITS: Will commensurate with qualifications and experience.
