AIDS Programs South Saskatchewan is a community-based harm reduction agency whose mission is to provide relevant and accessible services and programs for individuals, families, and communities affected by, living with, or at risk of HIV/AIDS/HCV. We operate the Queen City Exchange located at 2911 5th Ave, which includes a busy Drop-In Center for people from the community. We are looking for an energetic individual who enjoys people and is passionate about harm reduction to coordinate the Drop-In.
Responsibilities:
-work closely with the Needle Exchange Coordinator and assist with daily operation of the needle exchange and delivery of services to visitors
-manage and develop Drop-In Services including:
-coffee and food services
-on-site client and visitor services (Public Health Nurse, Addictions Counselor, etc.)
-coordination of special events
-HIV/HCV education and prevention seminars and prevention materials for the resource center
-stay up to date with best practices in harm reduction, provide appropriate messaging in the Drop-In and Needle Exchange, and provide one on one harm reduction counsel as needed.
-assist with website and social media communication for the Queen City Exchange
-collect data on new and existing Drop-In programs and services
Qualifications:
-excellent interpersonal skills and experience supporting individuals struggling with addictions
-a degree in Social Work, Human Justice, addictions training or related experience
-knowledge of HIV/AIDS/HCV prevention and care
-proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel
-a valid drivers license
-criminal record check and vulnerable sector check
